Connecticut Restaurant Reviews

LakeView Restaurant is on the lake in Coventry Conn. They offer Italian, Seafood, Steak,
Pizza, Sandwiches & Burgers.
They have an outdoor deck overlooking the lake. They have a large bar, and big screen
TV. They are also known as the
LakeSide Cafe & Lounge. When
we first arrived we were happy to be reunited with our favorite waiter, Joey
from Coventry Pizza, who we had not seen in 3 years. We sat in a booth overlooking the lake.
I got the Rib Eye Steak Sandwich topped with a delicious
combination of sauteed onions, peppers, mushrooms, and cheese. The Steak Fries were the way I like
them; hot and crispy golden brown.
Liz got the Chicken Broccoli Alfredo served over Linguini. I sampled some, both the chicken and
white sauce were very tasty. The portion was very generous, we took half of it
home.
Joey, our server, was very attentive & friendly. Leo, the manager, thanked us as we were
leaving and was very friendly with us.
Next time we try an appetizer;
Chicken Wings, Fried Calamari, Stuffed Mushrooms, Sweet Potato Fries,
Shrimp, Smelts in a Basket. Then split an Antipasto Salad, or Baked Lasagna.

Willimantic Brewing Company is a great restaurant located in the old post office building on
Main Street Willimantic. Great
ambiance. Jordan, our server, was
A+ attentive and helpful. When
deciding upon which homemade draft beer he asked me a few questions then brought
me two samples, both very good. I
ended up with one called "Holiday Mail".
Liz had the Vegetarian Chile while I had the homemade bread and a
salad. I chose the Fish &
Chips. The fish was excellent, and
the steak fries were hot and crispy.
For her entree Liz selected the Spinach Salad which was also very
good. For dessert we had Carrot
Cake and Coffee. There was
absolutely nothing to complain about.
Looking around at all the other happy patrons it is obvious to me this
place deserves a 5 star rating.

Nita's Restaurant is the
classic "Hole in the Wall with Great Food". Hidden away in downtown Willimantic. It is open for
breakfast and lunch only. We went
on a Saturday morning. No WiFi, so
I played Bejeweled on my Nook Tablet while waiting in line for about a
half-hour. We got a very attentive
waitress as soon as we were seated, and quickly got our coffee, and placed our
orders.
The menu featured fancy omelettes, waffles, and stuffed
crepes. I chose the Potato
Pancakes. They were made the way I
like them; very light and delicate.
Liz got the Eggs Benedict with home fries. Generous portions and delicious. For dessert we went halves
on very large Apple Turnover, which was homemade that morning.
Review 2: We skipped breakfast and took our appetites to Nita's to
enjoy their
"Pierogi-Friday" lunch specials. We each got the "Polish Sampler". It had two large potato pierogis topped
with fried onions, and a kielbasa with a large mound of Bigos (Polish hunters
stew w/ cabbage, mushrooms, diced meats).
I matched a bite of sausage with each fork-full of Bigos; absolutely
delicious.
A giant potato pancake filled a second plate. I was happy with the toppings provided
(sour cream & apple sauce) so I skipped the maple syrup. For dessert we split an Apple
Crisp. Portions were generous, and
service was A+, waitresses came around every 3-4 minutes to refresh your
coffee. We look forward to our next time, there are so many things on the menu
we want to try.

Coventry Pizza is near the lake in
Coventry Connecticut. For me to
get there it is a pleasant 3 mile ride thru Nathan Hale State Forest. We have been going there for many
years, and it's always a satisfying experience. The new owner made this a superior restaurant I highly
recommend.
They have beer, wine, and a full bar. They also have a kid menu. We enjoyed Antipasto Salad on a
previous visit, it was great. I also like the Fisherman's Platter. They do take-out pizza and grinders. Sit-down can get appetizers, steak,
veal, pork, fish, chicken, seafood, burgers, fries, pasta, salads, veggies, and
desserts.
This time we went on a Friday night. Liz had Veal Cutlet Parmesan, and I had Baked Lasagna. Both had a delicious red tomato sauce
and lots of mozzarella. Both had
great taste and texture. We will
go back for breakfast on weekends.
They open 7 am on Saturdays & Sundays. On menu; eggs, home fries, ham, bacon, sausage, omelets,
French toast, English muffins, pancakes, & bagels.

Log Cabin Lebanon Conn. Every time we go here we try something
different and we have never been dissappointed. The Chef Salad is great. The
Burger & Fries are great. The pizza is great. They also have Free Wi-Fi. A
little out-of-the way for most people, but not for me, it is the midpoint
(Route 87 in Lebanon CT) of my commute back and forth to my job.

Olympic Restaurant is on Route 66 near the golf course on the
East side of Willimantic Connecticut.
It is listed as a pizza shop, but it offers much more such as Italian,
seafood and burgers. Our salads
came immediately and it was not hard to figure out why: the salad veggies were
cut up and bowled the night before and sat all night in the fridge. The cucumber survived okay, but the
lettuce, onion and tomato became wilted and tasteless.
We were there before, so we knew their whole belly clams were
pretty good. That's what we got
again this time and they did not disappoint. Generous portions with a heaping platter of crispy french
fries underneath. To get better
clams it seems you must go to a restaurant on the shoreline. For dessert Liz got the cheesecake,
which was the only dessert available.
I sampled only a bite and it was very good. Our server was very friendly and attentive. I wanted to give this place 4 stars but
the bad salads took away from that rating.

Georgina's Restaurant Bolton Conn. It is located at the Eastern end of
I-384, which branches off from I-84 and proceeds through Manchester Connecticut
for a few exits. Elizabeth
selected the fettucini carbonara.
I selected the Antipasto plate.
When our plates arrived we were stunned by the gigantic portions. Both were delicious. We both took doggie-bags home. The following day we split the leftover
antipasto for lunch, then split the fettucini for supper.

Steaming Tender Restaurant is in Palmer Mass.
This top-notch restaurant is a famous tourist attraction located in an
historic railroad station. The
menu had excellent choices: Steaks, Ribs, Fried and Broiled Seafood, Pork &
Poultry, Pasta, Burgers, Sandwiches, Salads, Soups and Appetizers. Elizabeth
had the Half of Roasted Duck with Plum Sauce. I sampled it and it was delicious.
I had the Whole Belly Fried Clams with French Fries &
coleslaw. The clams were crispy
and tasty, 100 percent perfect.
Our waitress was friendly and very attentive. The next time we go there we will try the
"All-You-Can-Eat Breakfast Buffet" on Sat/Sun Mornings. Seniors (55+)
get it for $7.

Bidwell Tavern is on Main Street
in historic Coventry Connecticut.
The burger was tasteless, and the roll was stale. We have been there
three times so far and each time was a disappointment. They will serve you cold
and soggy French Fries unless you specifically tell them you want to wait for
the next fresh batch. My guess this place is for people who like beer and hot
wings.
---------------------------------------------------
Dmitri Restaurant is in North Coventry. This pizza should be avoided. It's made
using the frozen pre-fab crust that is tasteless. The cheese is indigestible.
The meatball grinders are very good. Dining inside we get the Lasagna, which is
great. The whole belly fried clams got me sick once, they were deep-fried using
very old and dirty cooking oil. I avoid all of their fried seafood dishes now
as a result.

Shady Glen is in Manchester. This is a retro-50's dairy bar. A great
place for ice cream sundaes, but do not make the mistake of ordering a meal
here, and don't expect a soda drink to be carbonated, a coke sits flat in your
glass like kool-aid. The french fries suck, the onion rings suck, and the
cheeseburgers are like shoe leather.

Pastrami On Wry Manchester Connecticut. This is a sandwich shop that also opens
for breakfast. We went for early
breakfast. Our waitress was A+. We got coffee fast, in huge mugs, many refills,
but it was weak & watery. I got the Hungry Man: 2 pancakes (bland), 1
French Toast, 2 bacon, 2 sausage, 3 eggs, 1 English Muffin & shredded
potato "Hash Fries".
With my selection I got to sample many items; the English Muffin and the
Hash Fries were both very good, everything else was just average.
Liz had Meat Breakfast Skillet: 2 scramble eggs, onions, peppers,
mushrooms, and cheddar served on top of bacon, ham, hash & shredded potato.
With 2 raisin toast that they burnt black and served it to her anyways. She was unimpressed. Prices reasonable. Very noisy. Serving weak coffee is a severe drawback, so we won't ever
go back for breakfast again. We
will go at lunchtime and try the deli sandwiches and Hosmer soda.

Meet Me On Main Coventry Conn is birthplace to
Nathan Hale, patriot spy hero of the American Revolution. If Hale ever ate at this restaurant; he
would have hung himself. This
breakfast/lunch is located across the street from the famous Bidwell Tavern in
Coventry. They would rather take advantage of tourists instead of satisfying
repeat customers.
We spent $26 for breakfast for two, & we were still hungry
when we left. POOR SERVICE: I waited 15 minutes to get my coffee. I
had to beg 3 times for it. It came
only when my breakfast arrived.
SMALL PORTIONS: My omelet
was the size of a small pancake folded over in half. A few gulps and it was gone. TOO EXPENSIVE:
Everything was overly-priced.
If you wanted home fries you had to pay extra. The coffee is extra. Most things are extra. DISCOURTEOUS: The waitress agreed to substitute veggies in my omelet
instead of cheese, but when the bill came she charged me an extra $3. MISLEADING ADVERTISING: The menu said "Fruit"
was included. What appeared was a small strawberry sliced and fanned, and a
tiny slice of melon. This was merely a garnish and not the serving of fruit I
expected. I felt cheated. HAUTE CUISINE: I don't think so. There was nothing
that justified charging a premium.
No ambiance, no special ingredients, no special skills in
preparation. ALTERNATIVES: There are plenty of other restaurants
that offer courteous service, and great food at fair prices.
